Break the Cycle is a project for an experimental learning space for the pedagogical college of Innsbruck. The structure is divided into two primary sections: the solid, geometric ground which is made of rammed earth, and the contrasting light canopy constructed with a static framework of dried and debarked tree trunks enveloped in a recyclable membrane. The overall construction remains partially open. There are five rooms integrated with the membrane that can be closed. Among these, two rooms utilize the same material as the membrane and can be fully opened during the summer. The remaining three rooms are made with the rammed earth. During winter, the solar radiation between the roof membrane can be utilized to heat the closable rooms. The rammed earth's storage capacity enables heating the surrounding open room during winter. This interplay between open and closed allows versatile use and creates new learning experiences.
